Grand Design, Forrest River, and perhaps other RV manufacturers have been installing a Furrion Solar Panel port in their RVs, for the attachment of a solar battery charger. However, the connector does not come with the RV, and unless you buy the Furrion Solar Panel, you don't get the connector.
This connector is available from both Amazon and eBay:

Once there look for Cnlinko part number LP-20-C02PE-01-001
Note that the seller has told me they intend to keep these connectors in stock, so if you don't see them, please contact the seller.

Thanks! Been looking for a connector for something and this fit the bill!
回复删除"limited to 10 AMP" when it's connected to 7.5 AMP fuse, it's not 10 AMP then, it's a 5-7.5 AMP connector
回复删除This connector is also on Amazon. Where a spec sheet is also provided. The plug is rated 20amps and up to 500v, which is interesting. This means you can put in a 12-24vdc BMS between the mounted trailer plug and you rv batteries and charge at a 20 amp rate. I yo use a 24vdc solar kit, the BMS will drop it to 12vdc and you can use bigger solar arrays on roof or stand alone on the ground. Do the numbers for what Your use is, but it definitely can handle more than 10watts.
回复删除If you plan on using the installed Furrion solar port in a Grand Design Reflection unit, check the fuse that is located in the circuit. When Grand Design built mine, they installed a 7.5 amp fuse and fuse holder instead of the required 10amp protection. I contacted the Grand Design factory and they confirmed that they ran out of the 10 amp fuses and there was a period of several weeks where they installed 7.5 amp components. If your rig has this, you'll not only need to change the fuse, but the fuse holder because the one they installed has too small a wire gauge. My unit was built in October of 2016 in order to give you a feel for when the impacted units were built.
回复删除10A is anemic. I don't know why they even bother.
回复删除Thank you for this video! It was exactly what I needed to connect me Renogy portable solar panel to my Keystone Cougar TT.
回复删除Thank you for taking the time to share this. This helps me so much.
回复删除we have a 2018 KZ Sportster toy hauler which came with the furrion solar panel input. we have a Coleman 100W panel and ordered the adapter you mentioned in the video. Wiring is too small for water proofing connection but my actual question is as follows:
回复删除How does the "solar panel charge controller" - get wired between the leads coming into the battery compartment off the furrion solar receptacle and then from the controller to the battery as a second line. (primary lines are to the trailer off the battery)
All the solar panel charge controller wiring diagrams on the internet show it going from the solar panel to the controller and then to the battery (no plug in port on the trailer) l
thank you so much for this information , I am well oriented now to use this special solar connector .
回复删除Excellent job researching for us! Thanks. Just a heads up to everyone, the panels that connect to 12 volt system put out current at 17 volts. If you use that, 100watts/17 volts is 5.88amps. If you need 7.5 amps(why does it say 10 amp on the panel and have a 7.5 amp fuse?) you're looking for 17volts X 7.5 amps = 127.5 watts, or thereabouts.
回复删除that was easy. the manufacturer of the port assured me that i would need to purchase their panel. we have a 100 Watt Coleman solar panel which we were trying to determine what connecter would work.
回复删除In your opinion could you use this with one 150w panel providing power to one 125ah 12 volt battery? I'm assuming yes as max amp output of panel is listed at 8.33 amps?
回复删除Since you said its 10amp max, would my furrion connector works for 100 watts solar panel? I have cherokee rv with furrion plug. Thanks for posting this!
回复删除Do I need a charge controller too if I plug in solar panels to this port?
回复删除sleuthing other sites on the Furrion Solar panels, it seems consistent that upper is negative and lower is positive.
回复删除I purchased the connector and have a 6w panel coming. My intent is strictly to maintain the battery when the RV is stored (outside obviously) and not connected to AC power. I too had a question about polarity as your video oddly did not discuss it. I'm having trouble understanding why you say it doesn't make a difference if we just have two conductors that go straight to the battery. Pausing the video on the interior shot, it appears the upper pin on your RV is black (ground/negative) and the lower pin is red (hot/positive).
回复删除Thanks! just what i need!
回复删除Thank you so much for the response.
回复删除(attached to below) oh, and the solar panel says its a 12v with 18v operating voltage, that is confusing as well. We plan on using 2 -12v batteries.
回复删除Thanks a bunch. I will order the part. Without this video I would not have known about needing this plug.
回复删除I have a Furrion outlet on the side of my new camper. Are there any limitations on what size solar panel to buy since the outlet has "10 amp" written in white? I want to buy the 100 watt portable mono 12v folding panels. There are so many specifications I do not know which 'AMPS' to look at for compatibility. ..short circuit at 6.2 amps at or max at 5.9 amps?
The only thing we are really looking to do power-wise is to run a 20 inch LED tv for an hour in the morning to watch the news. We will be at many state campsites that are primitive without power.
THANK YOU so much for posting this video. All the new campers have these ports and it seems many more will have questions.
Make a video about your solar panels :), this would be great!
