This is my 2009 Kia Rondo with a solar panel fully installed into the car. I've used the storage compartments below to store a 100ah Deep Cycle battery, and I've drilled holes in the car to run wires from the solar panel, to the charge controller, to the battery, and finally to the inverter.

回复删除I see this charge controller has an adjustable Low Voltage Cutoff. How high can you set that Cutoff?
回复删除Great job! My only advice would be to get a pure sine wave inverter, well worth the money! I would just say be on the lookout when you're on adventures and pick one up when you find a deal on craigs or ebay. Loved watching the video, super mellow and easy to watch, great job explaining enough without too much.

回复删除Flexible panels fastened around the edges are a better idea for this vehicle. Save lots of weight and wind resistance. You can place them on the hood too.

hey very cool idea, I DID something similar but my solar panel was only 15 w and had a charge controller, inverter and voltage miter in a battery sefety box. I was just experimenting and placed the panel on the roof on my Rav4 and use it to power a 12 v dc fan to cool down my car and charge my phone. It was a learning curve and fun to do.

回复删除very awesome! I plan on doing the exact same thing with my 03 Pontiac vibe. I plan on having solar and charge the battery from my alternator via battery isolator. that way it will always be charged up. :)

回复删除Ford never pushed for electric car. So bad cie for being green. I tried to drive one of those electric cars in my city but they never got any in the store even if if they were the official electric seller. Even in 2019 nothing yet. How can u buy one when u don’t carry any. Also, they try, instead, to sell us petrol engine. SO WRONG BEHAVIOR.
回复删除These are my only problems with a solar power car #1 cloudy/rainy days it wouldn't get to generate enough solar energy power a car on those type of days #2 night time ALOT of people leave to go to work around 2 to 4 am so again the same problem exept it wouldn't even generate any power #3 this might be invalid but the day time people are driving all the time and most people drive to very very far places Well those are my problems with solar power thats it bye.

回复删除that hood will at best give 1kw per day and perhaps 850 Watt to the battery. Some 3 miles. Its too impractical.
