  1. You can do the same with a flip charger to stop phone reset as it has through charge. Venture 30 is great seams faster then anker 10 k but only 2-2/12 phone charges.

The Nomad 14 looks like a great size. Also, the auto restart feature sounds really unique. Awesome feature.

  4. Why don't they just start making the venture self charging solar?

  5. Love the review. I'm in the market for a solar setup. I mainly want it to recharge a flashlight, and of course the phone too. Your video has helped make a decision on which brand, only need to decide between the 7 or this 14. Thanks!

  6. Great review! One note: Most modern cell phones (and many Li-ION battery devices) will drop their charge rate after 80% charge to help preserve battery lifespan. In other words, usually the maximum charge rate is only "allowed" between 1-80% charge. I'm not positive, but I think if your phone had been at (for instance) 60% in the video, it would've likely charged 10-20% in the 15 minute test span, even with 25% clouds.

  13. Does the Venture 30 fit in the pouch on the Nomad 14? It looks a little tight back there especially with the wiring. I have a Venture 30 with the old Nomad 7 and the one good thing about the older panels is that the zip pouch was very roomy and spacious enough that I could throw my Venture 30 in there along with cables without any issues. The newer Nomad panel seems like trying to fit into a pair of skinny jeans!!!

  14. I just got this panel recently and find it impossible for the power indicator to go above two lights. It happens even when the panel is placed directly perpendicular to the sun at noon. Do you think it may be a defect? I saw yours show all four lights and blink rapidly when charging that power bank. Thanks!

Great review. Like the instructional versatility of the product. Simple right out of the box.

  18. Would have been nice to do a comparison to the Anker given this is much more expensive. Seems also silly to have mesh with a waterproof zipper.

  21. That was un fair because goal zero has the solar regulator in the corner behind the panel were the rock landed hence why the last test broke it. The anker regulator is in the side pocket.

Not really a fair test the panels are different wattage

  23. Hilarious reading the "hater" posts. If I was scrollin amazon for panels, I would question exactly what this test does! Would the cheaper Anker be better than the more expensive Goal Zero? And would it be a fragile china pos? AWESOME REAL TEST! Happy with my Anker (decided by this vid) which is actialy my 2nd great Anker purchase.

  28. What an idiot...
Please compare solar panels of the same power, e.g. the goal zero nomad 20.
And bye the way - there is no reason to put this things on fire or throw rocks on them.
Can´t believe such stupid behavior. ;-(

  30. Wow! EXCELLENT VIDEO!!! You weren't kidding when you said you were going to "test" these things. I've seen less destructive testing at a shooting range, lolz. I've been thinking about a solar charger for a while, and I never would have thought they could be this durable. I'm sold. Thank you so much for the great review. #subscribed!

  34. I have a goal zero solar panel and if there is not direct sunlight the charge will sap back out!

  35. I would expect that any 21 watt solar panel (including Anker) would out charge a 7 watt Goal Zero panel. What would have been a better test would have been to compare similar solar panels (like a 21 watt Anker to the 20 watt Goal Zero).

What many users might miss in this review is that Goal Zero panels also produce 12v output (not just 5v like the Anker), so if you need 12v of power to recharge your two-way handheld radios, for example, GoalZero wins. If you only plan on recharging your cell phones any 5v solar panel will work, but good luck getting your cell phone to work in any real off-grid condition.

Of course if your testing stuff in your back yard and consider your iPhone to be the center of your comm plans, well good luck with that idea. If Anker ever produces a 5v/12v combo panel like the GoalZero units, I'd certainly have to consider it, but I need the capability to recharge comm gear than doesn't run on 5v, but if you only plan on using a 5v Anker panel to recharge your phone while in the backyard I agree Anker is a cheaper choice than GoalZero.
